Success to me is not about wealth but accomplishments. The accomplishments are divided into work and life. Did you make it to the top or at least where you thought you'd finish in your career? For me, I can only hope but this will be the hardest to gauge because once I reach a goal, I set a new one. Will I consider myself successful when I die? Absolutely; I know that upon my death, I never stopped excelling in what I do.
As for life, success is doing what I love and not having any regrets. Did I get to do everything I wanted to do? Again, I can only hope but I won't die with regrets if I don't have the opportunity to do everything I want. The most important facet of life success is how many lives I influenced in a positive way during my stay on Earth.
They say you die twice. The first time is your physical death. The second time is when the last memory of you fades away. I hope that I will have built a legacy with my friends so that they'll remember me after I'm gone. What would be even more spectacular is if my friends pass my legacy on to their friends or children and they talk about me long after my friend passes on.
I believe entrepreneurship has to do with finding something your are passionate about and taking action to make the idea or concept a reality. Along with becoming an entrepreneur come many benefits including freedom, flexibility, and the ability to follow your passion and do what you enjoy. Many people working for others might not have as much freedom as they’d like or may not be very passionate about what they do for a living. It seems like everyday I meet other people who are not as happy with life as they should be.
Over a year and a half ago I decided to quit my job and take the leap into owning my own business. Prior to giving my 2 weeks notice, I made sure to create a plan and to map out how I would go about building my business. The day I was finally a full time entrepreneur, I felt so happy, free, and in control of my life. Yes, I was somewhat nervous for how things would go, but I had some money saved up to get me by while the business started. The steady paycheck and job security were no longer there, which made me extremely motivated to work hard and figure out a way to be successful. Now that I was own boss, I couldn’t wait to get up and start my day.
